Connections

FAR manager

The FAR manager program is an orthodox Windows file manager created as a clone of Norton Commander. Far Manager uses the Windows command line and is oriented towards keyboard control. FAR's features can be easily extended by using plugins. The program can be downloaded here.

Configuring the program

The NetBox plugin is used for SSH connections.

  • 1. Change the disk using Alt+F1 or Alt+F2 and select NetBox.

  • 2. The NetBox plugin panel appears with the saved sessions.

  • 3. Start a new session with Shift+F4.
  • 4. In the Host name: field, type kraken.
  • 5. Set Login type: to Normal.
  • 6. You can enter your name and password in the Username: and Password: fields.
  • 7. Click OK.

  • 8. If you have filled in your password, a warning will be displayed.

  • 9. In the next step, save the session under the name you chose

  • 10. The session list now shows the connection you created. Select the desired session to start the connection.
  • 11. If the session does not have a username and password, you will be prompted to fill in the necessary information during the connection process.

  • 12. If you are connecting for the first time, you will be prompted to enable the connection.

  • 13. When the connection is complete, you will see the server's directory structure in the panel.
